Tomsk State University or Томский государственный университет (TSU) - public higher education institution in Russia.

Tomsk State University - Description

Having studied international higher education systems, TSU was the first among other Russian universities  to trial Master’s programs. This experience was successful and in the early 1990s TSU granted its first Master’s diplomas in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Physics and Radiophysics.  A bit later students of Law and Philosophy also trialed a two-tier system of education. Nowadays TSU offers about 165 Master’s programs in 47 areas of academic studies and counting. TSU has been developing Master’s  double degree programs with its partner universities. Education takes place in two universities simultaneously. Today TSU has academic partners in China, France, Belgium and other countries. Today’s Master’s programs provide opportunities for Bachelor’s degree graduates to continue their studies in other universities, not only in Russia, but also in Europe and America. A TSU Master’s diploma is accepted by employers in Russia and abroad. Master’s programs are developed based on the requests from specific companies, which then go on to employ the graduates. The number of these kinds of programs at TSU increases every year. TSU graduates have the opportunity to build their own study scheme, which allows them to choose an individual learning plan which would include all necessary disciplines, research content, work placements and internship.
