Pontifical Xavierian University (PUJ) — private non-profit university. It is located in Bogota, Colombia. PUJ was established in 1623 and is one of the oldest higher education institutions in the country. As an active member of International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC), Asociation of Latin American Jesuit Universities and Colleges (AUSJAL), European Latinoamerican Asociation (COLUMBUS), Asociation of Latin American Universities (UDUAL), Asociation of Colombian Universities (ASCUN), PUJ is participating in developing the academic environment.
According to QS International University Ranking, the institution is among the top-350 in the world.
PUJ conducts scientific activity in several areas. More information can be found on the official site.
The academic calendar at PUJ is divided into two semesters, as in many other universities in Colombia. For convenience, tuition fees are calculated per year. One year of studying at PUJ will cost local citizens a minimum of 1 USD. For foreigners, the tuition fee is different — from 7,000 USD per year. The university has several financial aid programs that help students cover part of the cost of education. The cost of education and the availability of scholarships can be checked on the official website.
Also, be prepared for additional expenses: accommodation, transportation, study materials, meals and personal expenses.
The campus of PUJ is urban. This means that students study closely to the sights and the entire recreational infrastructure of the city. This type of campus gives students more options for internships and part-time jobs. The school has a library where students can do their homework or just relax. Not only locals study at PUJ, but also students from other countries. This is a unique opportunity to get in touch with the culture of other countries, meet representatives of different nationalities and make friends around the world.
There are several options to stay in the country after graduation. One of them is to get an offer from an employer and apply for a work visa. Read more about this on the embassy website. PUJ graduates find jobs quickly, partly because the university has a good reputation among employers according to the QS World University Rankings. You can find other options for immigration in our article.
