Slemani Polytechnic University (SPU) — public non-profit university. It is located in As Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. It is a young higher education institution, as it was opened in 1996. As a part of International Association of Universities (IAU), Association of Arab Universities (AARU), SPU is actively building the academic environment in Iraq.
SPU does research in different fields of study and offers bachelor and doctorate programs.

The academic calendar at SPU is divided into two semesters. For convenience, tuition fees are calculated per year. Tuition fees at SPU are different for locals and foreigners. Iraq citizens pay 1 USD per year, while international students pay a minimum of 200 USD. The university provides tuition assistance to some students through financial aid programs. They are available to both locals and foreigners. For up-to-date information on scholarships and the cost of education for each program, check the official website of the educational institution.
It is necessary to pay attention to other costs: accommodation, transportation, study materials, food, and personal expenses.

If you decide to pursue a career in science and enroll in a doctoral program, you must pass the language exam — IELTS, PTE or TOEFL.
The campus of SPU is located in As Sulaymaniyah. This is a fairly large city that opens up many opportunities for students: from cafes, restaurants and other entertainment to internships at large companies. But an urban campus can also be a disadvantage, because big city life distracts some students from their studies. SPU accepts students for international exchange programs. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in intercultural communication for both international and local students.

There are several options to stay in the country after graduation. One of them is to get an offer from an employer and apply for a work visa. Read more about this on the embassy website. You can find other options for immigration in our article.
