Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia - DescriptionUKM today has expanded to twelve well-established faculties, four institutes and nine centres. In addition, UKM has established a private limited holding company known as UKM Holdings, which handles the commercial activity of UKM. UKM encompasses an academic community of 1,798 (181 professors; 326 associate professors; 1051 lecturers and 174 tutors and 66 teachers), supporting staff of more than 7500 and a student population of approximately 26,844. Currently, UKM has about 19,371 undergraduate students, and 7,473 postgraduate students of which 1018 are foreign students from 35 different countries. Since its establishment in 1970 up till 2002, the University has produced more than 104,057 graduates; 93,210 Bachelors, 10,115 Masters and 732 PhDs. UKM, though a brainchild of nationalistic fervour and aspirations, is very international in outlook without sacrificing its cherished culture and values.

UKM encompasses an academic community of 2,890 (265 professors; 413 associate professors; 1974 lecturers and 115 tutors and 123 teachers), supporting staff of more than 3714 and a student population of approximately 26,844. Currently, UKM has about 19,371 undergraduate students, and 12,838 postgraduate students of which 3,347 are foreign students from 35 different countries. Since its establishment in 1970 up till 2011, the University has produced more than 146,417 graduates; 124,838 Bachelors, 19,688 Masters and 1891 PhDs. UKM has been chosen as one of the four research universities in Malaysia in 2006. Its areas of research were further consolidated and enhanced with the identification of eight niche areas. The main goal of the Transformation Programme is to place UKM in the community of leading research universities by 2018 whilst serving its national mandate. UKM aims at not just sustaining but also enhancing its level of excellence via its 2000-2020 (PS2020) Strategic Plan in line with its slogan, ‘Inspiring Futures, Nurturing Possibilities’.
