As in many other universities in the country, the academic calendar at HSM is divided into two semesters. But for convenience, tuition fees are calculated per year. At all public universities in Germany, tuition is free. Students pay only a semester fee, which is about 1,000 USD per year. You cannot enter a German university after the 11th grade, because schooling there lasts longer than 11 years. First, you need to eliminate the academic difference. To do this, foreign students go through a preparatory year in special educational institutions — Studienkollegs.
The campus of HSM is located in Mittweida. This is a fairly large city that opens up many opportunities for students: from cafes, restaurants and other entertainment to internships at large companies. But an urban campus can also be a disadvantage, because big city life distracts some students from their studies. Students have access to the extensive scientific library of the university.
