Group of Eight

Leading Australian universities, which occupy the top positions in the Australian universities rankings, in 1999 merged into the "Group of Eight". The main campuses of these universities are located in six major metropolitan cities of Australia. Members of the association are the most prestigious universities of Australia. Their graduates have the most chances to occupy a high social status.
