Application process and the cost of tuition. The main criterion of admission is the academic performance of the applicant. The cost of tuition for the bachelor’s programs is around 5,000 USD per year. Doing your master’s studies at ULACIT is not cheap - a year of studies will cost you 5,000 USD. Despite the tuition gees being quite low, the students often participate in scholarship programs. ULACIT is a bilingual university located in San José, Costa Rica, which offers academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in the fields of engineering, business, advertising, psychology, dentistry, education, and law. ULACIT has been awarded by the QS World University Rankings 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 as the best private university in Central America for three consecutive years. It also ranks first place overall in the category, “Reputation with employers”, and “Faculty Staff with Ph.D.” ULACIT has been recognized as one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America, according to the international publication Estrategia y Negocios (edition 130). In comparison to other private universities in Costa Rica, employers prefer ULACIT engineers, business graduates, and English-speaking professionals (Revista EKA, edition 298). In 2004, the Costa Rican Chamber of Commerce conferred upon ULACIT the Education Award, for considering it the educational institution which had, in the past five years, demonstrated the highest academic quality among all academic institutions in the country. ULACIT was nominated for the same award again in 2009. Its undergraduate programs in business, accounting, information systems, and law are accredited by SINAES, the official accrediting body in Costa Rica.
