University of Akureyri (UA) — public non-profit university. It is located in Akureyri, Iceland. It is one of the youngest higher education institutions in the country. As a part of European University Association (EUA), UA is actively building the academic environment in Iceland.
At UA, you can get a master degree in different fields of study.

The academic calendar at UA is divided into two semesters, as in many other universities in Iceland. For convenience, tuition fees are calculated per year. At public Irish universities, students don't have to pay tuition fees — that's why studying at UA is free. But students pay the semester fee, which is about 8 USD per year. On the official website of the university, you can find all the up-to-date information on tuition fees and available scholarships.
Also, consider other expenses: accommodation, transportation, study materials, meals, and personal expenses.

School education in Iceland lasts longer than 11 grades. Therefore, in order to enter an undergraduate program at UA, applicants must complete 1 year of university in their home country or take one of the preparatory programs (A-Levels, Foundation, etc.).
The campus of UA is urban. This means that students study closely to the sights and the entire recreational infrastructure of the city. This type of campus gives students more options for internships and part-time jobs. Students have access to the extensive scientific library of the university. The collection of scientific papers helps them in conducting research. UA accepts students for international exchange programs. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in intercultural communication for both international and local students.

There are several options to stay in the country after graduation. One of them is to get an offer from an employer and apply for a work visa. Read more about this on the embassy website. We talk about other options for immigration in our article.
