University of Stirling - Description

As part of our postgraduate programme student will develop the transferable skills, personal qualities and relevant work experience sought by employers in today’s highly competitive job market.The high demand for our graduates is evidenced by the University of Stirling being ranked 7th in the UK for graduate employability, with 96% of our graduates in employment, or further study, within six months of graduating (Telegraph/HESA, 2015). Additionally, the University achieved a 5 star excellence award for Employability (QS Stars, 2014). University of Sporting Excellence Stirling is Scotland’s official University for Sporting Excellence. We played host to Team Scotland for Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games, serving as preparation camp for our country’s finest athletes. Here, they had access to some of the best training facilities in the UK.  Our students rated us first in Scotland for sport facilities (The Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, 2015). The University is home to the National Swimming Academy and the Gannochy NationalTennis Centre where Wimbledon champion, Andy Murray, trained. Also on campus, you’ll find a state-of-the-art gym, strength and conditioning suite and dedicated cycling studio.Our 330-acre estate is the perfect natural playground for ramblers and hillwalkers, and students can try canoeing and kayaking on our very own loch. Five star living Thanks to an ongoing, multi-million pound investment in our residences, Stirling offers a wide selection of high quality accommodation. Whatever your budget or requirements, you will find a place to suit your needs, with some accommodation specifically allocated for postgraduate students. You can choose to live on campus or within walking distance of the University. We received a five-star rating for the University’s facilities from QS. A higher standard of living at a lower cost While the cost of living in Stirling is lower than the UK average, the standard of living certainly isn’t. The price University accommodation varies according to the type of residence you choose. In 2015 the weekly rate for a single room varied from £90 - £137 per week. Foundation and Pre-sessional English We offer a wide range of academic programmes and English language courses designed to help you develop the academic study and English language skills you need to take the next step in your career. We offer three Graduate Diploma pathways: • Management, Finance and Economics • Media, Humanities and Social Sciences • Computing, Science and Engineering We also offer a series of Integrated Graduate Diplomas which combines a pre-university course with a degree course to create one single programme of study. This is ideal for progression to the University of Stirling. The Integrated International Diploma – incorporates English language skills development, academic study skills, postgraduate research skills and subject-specific content – everything that is required for successful university study at a postgraduate level. Students on the Master’s with Integrated International Graduate Diploma can chose from three pathways: • Business, Finance and Sport • Media, Humanities and Social Sciences • Science and Computing
