Era University is a private health-sciences university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and its legal status is the first thing to get straight. An Indian private university exists because a state legislature created it: Era was established in 2016 under a dedicated Uttar Pradesh act[1] and now sits under the consolidated Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019[2]. That makes the degrees real; it says nothing about quality grades, world standing or the price of a medical seat. For a foreign reader Era also publishes strikingly little: no international fee schedule, no English-test threshold, no scholarship page, no deadline.

Era's Lucknow Medical College and Hospital reports 965 beds, average daily occupancy of 792 and outpatient attendance of 2275[6]. That patient flow is what a clinical degree buys.
💰 Published fees are low by international standards
Outside medicine, published tuition tops out at 1,809 USD a year — a fraction of a comparable degree in Australia, Canada or the UK.
🩺 The whole health-sciences ladder sits on one campus
Diplomas through doctorates run side by side, with 119 full-time PhD students in the medical college's own return.
📈 Medical graduates report strong first-job outcomes
The same filing records 119 of 132 MBBS graduates placed at a median 14,585 USD and 91 of 95 medical postgraduates at 15,752 USD — self-reported, college only.
Where Era University falls short for a foreign applicant
🌍 There is effectively no international student track
No page on the site addresses foreign applicants, foreign qualifications or foreign fees. You would be an exception the administration improvises around.

Era's fee page omits MBBS, and the state Fee Regulatory Committee resets the number each cycle. Treat aggregator figures as unverified.

The university states no UGC notification, no Association of Indian Universities membership and no NAAC grade. Check all three registers yourself[7] before paying anything.

Colleges, faculties and what is taught
Era is four constituent colleges under one trust — the Lucknow Medical College and Hospital, the Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Research, the College of Nursing and the College of Pharmacy — grouped into five faculties[8]. Medicine alone runs more than 25 departments. The Faculty of Science is the outlier, holding biotechnology, food and nutrition, computer applications and liberal education[9] — a BCA here still sits inside a hospital-centred institution.

Programmes run from laboratory and nursing diplomas through bachelor's degrees to master's degrees, an MHA and more than eighteen doctoral subjects. MBBS is the flagship: 54 months across nine semesters plus a compulsory one-year rotating internship[10]. Research partners named on the homepage include Lomonosov Moscow State University and Jhpiego, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University.
One rupee schedule covers everyone: no nationality tier, so expect the numbers a domestic applicant sees. Tuition is annual, exam fees extra.

NEET, counselling and the foreign-applicant route
Medical seats are not Era's to give — NEET and Uttar Pradesh counselling allocate them. Everything else is a direct application.
Bachelor's and MBBS applicants
Check eligibility: MBBS requires 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology, a 50% aggregate (40% for SC, ST and OBC candidates), English, and age 17 by 31 December of the admission year[10].
Sit NEET-UG — mandatory for every MBBS seat in India, NRI-quota seats included.
Get a foreign school certificate equated: Era publishes no rule for WAEC, IB, A-levels or a US diploma, so ask admissions in writing.
For non-medical programmes, register on the applicant portal with transcripts, school certificate, passport and photographs[4].
Pay the first instalment, then apply for the visa.
Master's, MD and doctoral applicants
Identify the gate: MD and MS run through NEET-PG, while M.Sc, MHA, M.PT, M.Pharmacy and MCA have no published entrance test.
Have your bachelor's assessed for equivalence and apostilled where the awarding country requires it.
Submit transcripts, the degree certificate, a passport and, for clinical programmes, home-country registration evidence.

Why the student visa gives no work rights
An Indian student visa carries no employment right, and a paid internship needs a separate intern visa — so budget for zero earned income. Era runs a placement cell with campus recruiters including Apollo Hospitals, Optum Global Solutions and Alembic Pharmaceuticals[11], but publishes no placement rate; clinical students serve the MBBS internship in Era's own wards. Checks to run before any Indian private university
Recognition. Beyond the UGC list, check your programme's own regulator — the National Medical Commission, the Indian Nursing Council or the Pharmacy Council of India.
Documents. Order sealed transcripts early, ask whether an Association of Indian Universities equivalence certificate is needed for your board, and budget time for certified diploma translation and apostille — from West Africa, the Philippines and the Gulf that often outlasts the application.
Payments. Pay tuition only into the university's own account, never to an agent, and keep every receipt.
Visa timing. The Indian student visa is a paper application at a mission, not an e-Visa, so allow several weeks; register with the FRRO within 14 days of arrival[12] and arrange student health insurance yourself.
What applicants ask about Era
Does Era University have a NAAC grade?
None is stated anywhere, and we could not confirm one. Graphic Era University in Dehradun is a different institution with a similar name.
Is Era's Lucknow Medical College the same thing as Era University?
Not quite: the college is a constituent institution filing national data under its own code, so most published statistics describe it, not the university.
Does Era publish hostel costs?
No rate and no residency rule appear on the site. Ask whether a place is available, what it costs, and whether living on campus is compulsory for your programme.
Is there an application fee?
No amount appears on the admission-forms page. Ask the admissions cell what the current form fee is.
How many students are there?
The university publishes no total. Its medical college alone reports 750 MBBS students and 328 medical postgraduates[6]; nursing, pharmacy and science are not broken out.
Choose it when you want a clinical degree at Indian domestic prices, are comfortable in Lucknow, and value hospital exposure over an international brand.
Look elsewhere when your plan depends on working during study, a post-study visa, scholarship funding, or a ranked name an employer recognises on sight.

UGC standing and the professional-council recognition of your programme;
tuition and examination fees for every year, and for MBBS the current state fee order;
the hostel charge, and the refund policy if a visa is refused.
