Established in 1965, the University of Newcastle (UON) is a world-class research and teaching institution, consistently ranking in Australia’s top 10 for research funding outcomes.
In 2013, the University has demonstrated strong performance across the major global independent league tables.
The 2013-14 Times Higher Education World University Rankingsuon analytics link (THE) ranked Newcastle in the world’s top three per cent of universities, placing it in the 251-275 group of universities, up from 276-300 in 2012. Nationally, UON moved up two places since 2012 to rank ninth in the country, and Newcastle is now the highest ranked by the THE outside a capital city in Australia.
