Kansas State University - Description

As the country's first land-grant university, founded in 1863, Kansas State offers a comprehensive breadth of programs involving a distinguished graduate faculty who are dedicated to the education of our students. In support of its mission in research and graduate education, the university has created extensive state-of-the-art facilities so that you may pursue research at the forefront of your chosen discipline. The university also seeks to recruit students from diverse ethnic backgrounds as part of its commitment to cultural diversity. These factors foster a community of learning dedicated to excellence in graduate education. Kansas State University's (KSU) Graduate School offers advanced study in sixty-five master's degree programs, forty-two doctoral programs, and twenty-six certificate programs. There is an increasing emphasis on innovative interdisciplinary programs. The Graduate School requires 30 semester hours beyond the bachelor's degree to obtain the master's degree, although some programs require more than 30 semester hours. Many programs require a substantial research project, although a nonthesis option is available in some programs. In the professional programs, that option predominates. Doctoral programs require 90 semester hours beyond the bachelor's degree to obtain a Ph.D. and 94 semester hours beyond to obtain an Ed.D. Both programs include original research and...
