Description of University of the Basque Country
The University of the Basque Country is the public university of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. We are a public university, multilingual, research-oriented with an international outlook, striving to provide society with quality services in innovation and the development and dissemination of knowledge. In 2010 the University obtained the recognition as "International Campus of Excellence" by the Spanish Ministry of Education.With a total of 32 Schools and Faculties distributed amgonst three campuses, we offer a wide range of degrees in all areas of knowledge; from experimental sciences, engineering and humanities to health sciences, economics, arts or architecture. All degrees are fully adapted to the European Higher Education Area. We offer 69 undergraduate programs, and 165 postgraduate programs. 32 of our PhD programs have been granted an excellence quality award by the Spanish Ministry of Education. Our PhD studies lead to more than 300 graduates being granted their doctorate degrees every year. We have more than 45,000 students, almost 4,000 teaching staff, an administrative staff of 1,800 persons and our annual budget is 609 million euros.In recent years the University of the Basque Country has achieved major increases in its scientific output in terms of international visibility in all areas of knowledge.
