Technical University of Denmark - Description

DTU (Technical University of Denmark) is an internationally renowned university, and is among the top technical universities in Europe and the World. The University educates engineers at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels and has approximately 2,000 researchers, 10,000 students, 1,500 PhD students and 2,000 international students a year. DTU was founded in 1829 by the father of electromagnetism, H. C. Ørsted, whose vision was to create a polytechnical institution that would benefit society through natural and technical sciences – with a view to creating value for society. This vision has placed DTU among the top 10 universities in the world when it comes to making collaborations with industry. BEng and BSc programmes - The BEng is a 3½-year programme which includes a six-month internship. The BSc is a 3-year programme which qualifies students for a MSc programme. Please note that the main language of instruction at the undergraduate level is Danish. Master Programmes - The 2-year Master programmes are research-based programmes at the highest technological level. In these programmes, students acquire the qualifications and skills necessary to analyse, synthesize and evaluate theory and experiments relating to complex engineering systems, problems and solutions. All Master programmes are taught exclusively in English. Honour programmes are offered by each Master programme. An emphasis on the global markets is also present in the strategic alliances such as the EuroTech Universities, Nordic5Tech, KAIST, and a number of Joint International Programmes. Combined with exchange students from roughly 200 partner universities, DTU is a university whose campus has a distinctive international atmosphere. A complete list of Master's programmes offered at DTU are found here. DTU's main campus is located in Lyngby in a green environment at the outskirts of the Danish capital of Copenhagen. It takes just 25 minutes by bus from Lyngby to the centre of Copenhagen, which enables all students to enjoy all elements of the cultural and historical sights of an European capital. DTU Ballerup Campus is located approximately 10 km from Copenhagen and is home to BEng students.

Description of Technical University of Denmark

DTU (Technical University of Denmark) was founded in 1829 by the father of electromagnetism, Hans Christian Ørsted and was modeled along the lines of École Polytechnique in Paris, France. For almost two centuries DTU has been dedicated to fulfilling the vision of its founder – to develop and create value using the natural sciences and the technical sciences to benefit society. DTU is ranked as one of the foremost technical universities in Europe, continues to set new records in the number of publications, and persistently increases and develops our partnerships with industry and assignments accomplished by DTU’s public sector consultancy. The number of student enrolment is higher than ever and, for the fourteenth consecutive year, we have received a record-breaking number of applications from students who want to pursue a degree from a technical elite university with a global outlook. The international dimension is of vital importance to DTU. In 2014, we welcomed 538 international students into our MSc programs, half of our PhD students are recruited from abroad, and more than one third of our scientific staff are highly qualified researchers of international backgrounds. In addition, the extent and intensity of our collaborations with other leading technical universities around the world continue to grow. DTU has international educational exchange programs with over 200 universities around the globe, and enjoys close research collaborations with its partners in addition to building research and educational programs in Nordic Five Tech, the Euro Tech Universities - Excellence in Science and Technology, as well as with Rensselaer in the U.S., Nanyang in Singapore, and KAIST in South Korea
