About BUTE
Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE) — public non-profit university. It is located in Budapest, Hungary. BUTE is one of the oldest higher education institutions in the country, as it was established in 1782. BUTE is an active member of European University Association (EUA), Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER).
It is one of the best institutions in the world. In QS World University Rankings 2024, it is among top-740. Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE), places the university in 1201 position in the world.
BUTE does research in different fields of study and invites students to bachelor, master and doctorate programs.
The academic calendar at BUTE is divided into two semesters. For convenience, tuition fees are calculated per year. Tuition fees at BUTE are different for locals and foreigners. Hungary citizens pay 3,051 USD per year, while international students pay a minimum of 3,426 USD. BUTE has an urban campus, which provides students with many options for study and recreation. The abundance of museums, theaters and cinemas creates opportunities for the cultural development of young people. In the city, there are also large companies that offer internships. Students have access to the extensive scientific library of the university. The collection of scientific papers helps them in conducting research. Thanks to international exchange programs at BUTE, students can communicate with representatives of different countries and nationalities and thus expand their own horizons. And, the university contributes to this by regularly holding joint events for local and foreign students.
You can stay in Hungary for up to 9 months after graduation by applying for a job seeker visa. This must be done before the student visa expires.
